Maroondah Education Coalition

In 2005, Maroondah SC, Norwood SC, Parkwood SC and Ringwood SC united under the Leading Schools Fund project to provide an innovative and unique education solution for students within the Maroondah network, whilst addressing common concerns regarding student retention, engagement, VCE results and pathways.

The leadership teams of the four schools were excited by the opportunity to focus on school reform as a local phenomenon, the outcome of leadership teams, teachers and students working together, building a shared vision and drawing on the community's strengths, history, and local flavor. By sharing and building on the varied expertise and experience of the four schools, each school was strengthened, yet retained its personal flavour.

Maroondah Education Coalition - Join our Mailing ListOver the past three years MEC teams have implemented a variety of projects in an ICT rich environment including a 1 to 2 notebook program at Maroondah, Norwood and Parkwood Secondary Colleges and a 1 to 1 notebook program at Ringwood SC. The availability of dedicated video conferencing facilities across the Coalition is seen as important in enhancing curriculum programs and VCE delivery across the cluster of schools.

Three years later, Croydon SC, Heathmont College and Croydon Community School have joined our coalition as part of the Maroondah Schools Regeneration project. This substantial building project aims to transform education in the Maroondah precinct, with schools working together to find the best solution for student provision in the 21st century.  As a group, the MEC schools currently provide VCE, VET and VCAL to senior students and the regeneration project will further advance educational options and opportunities for coalition students.

Coalition advertisements in the local Leader Newspaper & Dux Magazine and at Eastland shopping centre via the large revolving screen reflect a coalition culture of collaboration and sharing as well as the individual strengths of each school.
