Heritage
Opened in 1954, Ringwood High School ( now Ringwood Secondary College) enjoyed a traditional curriculum eg Domestic Science, cadets and trips to the Royal Melbourne show.
Today the heritage group supports reunions, promotes celebrations, produced ‘Ringwood Recall’ - 50 years of schooling, created four Jubilee Quilts to signify features of the college, fosters the recognitions of students and preserves our history.
The Science Hall of Excellence, Sporting Hall of Fame, Arts Hall of Achievement celebrate and credit success. We hope to introduce a fourth “Hall of Heritage” in Term 3, 2009 to recognise community contribution.
Members of the Heritage Group help at key functions, interview students and provide links with the wider community. It is with pride that the college enjoys second and third generation students.
Meetings are held 2-3 times per term and 2009 sees the publication and presentation of Anzac memories to the local RSL at an Assembly in April, the Induction programme and the marking of 55 years of education at this institute.
Reunions for 1959 and 1989 have started and we invite interest for all decades, submission of names for Hall consideration and current contacts for ex students. Terry Kane, our archivist, welcomes items from our past. Please contact Mrs J Ward, Assistant Principal about contributing to our legacy and keeping ‘Culture and Service’ to the forefront.
